Paddlesport trips
We run regular paddle sport trips from our beautiful Cuckmere valley activity centre. With the option of paddling up the river, on an incoming tide to the stunningly picturesque village of Alfriston, where you can take a break have a wander to take in its sights before returning on the ebbing tide. Alternatively we offer opportunities to paddle down river to the beach where you can explore the beach and coastguard cottages and take in the view of the Seven Sisters Cliffs by foot before returning upriver to the activity centre.
Choose a sit on top kayak with back rest, closed cockpit kayak or a stand up paddleboard for any of our trips.
Beach Trips – Paddle to the Cuckmere Haven
Paddle down to the beach with our staff to see the iconic Seven Sisters and coastguard cottages from the river! We will be offering guided paddle sessions taking customers to the beach at Cuckmere Haven. The trip is for those who have done some paddling on flat water and will be approx. a 3 hour round trip.
Please note this is a river trip to the beach, and we will not be paddling on the sea.
This trip runs on selected dates in season, on appropriate tides with suitable wind speeds, if cancellations occur we can move dates.

Guided Trip To The White Horse
On this paddle we will go from the canoe barn, upstream to the river section under the iconic ‘white horse’, turning around when the tide dictates. We will take in beautiful views of the Cuckmere Valley at High and over where an outline of a horse is etched into the bright white chalk down land, before returning to the canoe barn. trip will be approx. 3 hours.

Alfriston trip on the River Cuckmere.
Paddle up the river towards Littlington and Alfriston when the tides suit the journey, typical journey times are approx. 4 to 5 hours including a lunch stop. Starting and finishing at the Cuckmere centre this return journey is a trip up the idyllic Cuckmere Valley, you can paddle a sit on top kayak or a Stand Up Paddle board. This is a days paddling which you must be able to paddle a kayak or SUP to embark on this trip. Taster sessions are available to prepare you for paddling a trip, please see above.

Join us on bespoke kayak trips along the coast. Trips from Cuckmere along the coast depart from the canoe barn head towards Cuckmere haven or along the seven sisters to Birling Gap.
Trips are planned in around favourable weather conditions for competent paddlers as a bespoke booking .
