Instructor Academy
This one stop shop program will give you all the skills and qualifications required to become an RYA Dinghy or Windsurfing start instructor. Based from our Eastbourne Location, with sailing area in Eastbourne bay, and sheltered lake in Princes Park, we can get afloat in most weather conditions in a range of craft. All our powerboat training is completed in Sovereign harbour and from the beach, in Eastbourne Bay. Shorebased training element is delivered onsite at our Eastbourne centre.

Archery GB – Archery Instructor £230
The Archery GB Instructor Award is the industry’s leading training course for archery. The course is designed for learners with little or no prior experience of archery. Learners must be at least 17 years old by the first day of the course. The course is 2 days long and includes a practical assessment. The successful learner will gain an Archery GB Instructor licence which lasts for three years. After this it can be renewed by successfully completing an online renewal module. The licence does not provide the instructor with insurance.
These are some of the skills you will learn on the course:
- How to shoot arrows
- How to prepare and deliver archery sessions
- How to select appropriate equipment
- How to set up a range
- How to ensure safety on the range
This course is run from the Bushy Wood Activity center.

National Small-bore Rifle Association (NSRA) YPS Tutors Diploma
The standard course to be able to deliver a taster sessions in air rifle shooting. The NSRA YPS (Youth Proficiency Scheme) Tutor’s Diploma will equip candidates to run have-a-go sessions in air rifle shooting and also to take young people for an introduction to shooting over a longer period (as in Scouts or other uniformed groups).

British Canoeing Paddle Sport Leader Assessment (2 day)
Your award will support you to run safe and enjoyable trips, based on your group needs and aspirations. You will lead journeys, on sheltered water, for a range of mixed craft.
As a Leader, you can work independently or be deployed by a club, centre or organisation to lead trips and journeys. The purpose of these trips may be wide ranging from educational experiences, social adventures or trying something new.
You will be able to provide British Canoeing Awards and Training such as:
Personal Performance Awards Paddle Start and Paddle Discover.
09:00 – 17:00 Saturday 15th and 16th May at our Cuckmere site.

RYA Powerboat instructor course
Pre-entry assessment – a skills assessment prior is a part of the first day of the course.

Experience
Five seasons experience of powerboating logged (preferably in range of boat types and sizes) OR one season for those who use powerboats as an integral part of their normal full-time occupation.
The course
Three day course assessed by an independent Trainer on the third day.
You will be qualified to teach up to and including Powerboat Level 2 under the supervision of the Principal or Chief Instructor. If you hold the Safety Boat Certificate, you may also teach the RYA Safety Boat Course.
Course dates- 8 – 11 October 2021 – 0900-1700
Cost – £395.50
RYA Dinghy Instructor Racing Endorsement.
The course will involve the coaching of racing skills through the running of sessions ashore and afloat.
Coaching afloat will concentrate on a good briefing, the running of sessions to improve student
performance and a quality group debrief. In order to run such sessions successfully a good general
knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) is expected (up to rule 47) and is not intended for instructors with no racing experience.
